Leaving Maryland

Finally, Oct 10th came and we were on the road! Heading south to meet a Pam and Ron from our "Feb. Fl. Keys family" in Myrtle Bch, South Carolina! And, as always, an opportunity to visit with our long time friends, Mark and Donna, who moved there some 5 yrs ago.
YAY....finally!! Sunshine, warm air, blue ocean water, sandy beaches and good company!
Ocean Lakes is a nice campground on the ocean. Convenient to everything you could ever want as far as shopping, shows, amusements, etc.! Nice pull thru sites with concrete pads, nice facilities and amenities.
Myrtle Bch, a great place for young, old and all ages in between! As long as you are ok to deal with crowds...summer is a popular time to go. However,  prefer late September, early October. Weather is gorgeous and no crowds!! :)
We were able to explore a town called Georgetown that is 30 minutes south of M.B. thanks to our friend who suggested it. Quaint little town with some history. Tour the Rice Museum then lunch at the Rice Paddy. Walk along the water front.

Oct. 19th and on our way to Wilmington, N.C. A place close to our hearts, we spent a lot of time here in the early 90's looking for a home. Unfortunately, that move never did happen due to a handful of things that kept us in Md.
We stay at the KOA which is minutes from Wrightsville Bch. A bit more rustic a campground but very friendly and nicely layed out.
Stop at the Causeway Cafe on the way to th ocean.A great little place for breakfast or lunch!  Cape Fear in Downtown Wilmington is a great place to stop for a drink and a bite to eat. Tour the battleship an walk along the river walk. A dog friendly city....my kinda place!
It has become more populated but worth a visit!

Oct. 22nd and on our way to New Bern,North Carolina. A KOA along the Neuse River. Beautiful sites with long pull thrus, patios, benches, tables, lamp posts and even chimenias! And some with river views! There is a wonderful pier, boat slips and ramp with sunsets to die for! Sit and relax on the gazebo covered dock or rent a paddle boat or kayak. A great campground....with even a dog bathing area! If I had to have one complaint, it would be that the "grounds" workers were not very friendly. You would expect a "good morning"...a wave good bye.....something?
The city of New Bern is just minutes away. Several restaurants to choose from, a few great little shops (Carolina Creations...my favorite) a long Middle St and Pollock St. And Bear sculptures on many corners! Yes, Bear sculptures! All painted with different themes...the bear being a symbol of a Swiss prominent family that settled there many yrs ago. Churches everywhere....a great little town to visit!
Just a note: The Wilmington koa , New Bern koa and Smithfield koa's are owned by the same couple.

Oct.25th and on our way to Kenbridge,Va. to my cousins 120 acre farm. 4 ponds, woods with trails, rolling hills!  We are parked on the property with full view of the pond with sunsets that fade just beyond it! It is peaceful here and beauty abounds! I am writing this as I look up at the sunset's light dance on the waters surface on the big pond below. Thank you Bobby and Karen, for our wonderful stay! Your hospitality has been so warm and welcoming! So nice to see some of the family, I only wish it never had to end.
Today is Halloween, Oct 31st.

HOUSE SETTLED AND HERE WE ARE, FULL TIME RV'ERS!

Well, I'd like to say that we came home from settlement, hooked up the SUV, got into the motorhome and off we went into the sunset!
But it hasn't quite worked that way....not yet anyway. Tim drove the motorhome a mile up the street from our "just sold" house and I followed in the suv~ Fortunately, a really good friend offered us his farm as our "temporary rv site". It's been 13 days and we're still wrapping things up!

Funny...we've had a wonderful time at our "going away" get together with the local rescue that I've volunteered at for the last 4 1/2 years, our daughter  treated us to "going away" dinner and friends & family have come to visit before our "going away".... and we're still here!! :+0
Good part is, we get to see the kids a few more times before we really leave!

We are finally  Full Time RV'ers! A long time dream has finally materialised!

So....the plan is to leave within 5 days from now and head south...or is it north....oh hell! Somewhere,USA!

Anyway, this is my very first blog post!! I will try and keep it interesting while keeping my followers updated on our adventures!
