Santa Fe!! Oh how I've been looking foward to meeting you!

June 19th we arrive at our reserved campsite in Sante Fe Skies Rv Pk. The grounds sit up high on a hill with views galore!!$34  per nite for our pull thru site and well worth it! In fact, we started with 3 days and stayed 7! ;) Nice dog park  but no pool! :(  Water is like liquid gold! Hard to come by when there is a drought in the desert....and there almost always is!
Sante Fe was all and more of what I'd expected! A lively city with arts and food and culture .....etc! The movie, The Lone Ranger was being filmed during the time we were there. Johnny Dep was staying in town.......ohhhh, only if I had the time for him.....we'd have had lunch or dinner together!.....Yeah Right!! (wishful thinking!! :)
WE met some really nice friends parked next to us, Elaine and Dave, that we befriended over wine! :) Went to supper with them for Tim's birthday and still stay in touch via texting. They live in Fort Worth,Tx. but have a condo on Marco Island,Fl.
I recommend taking a day trip to Taos. A beautiful little artsy town nestled high in the mtns. And while in route, you'll rde over the gorge! WE got out to walk it and let me tell you, the view is awesome but if you are faint on heights.....beware! Your stomach will turn!!
I also HIGHLY recommend touring the old historic holy town of Chimayo!! A must!
After touring the north end of Sante Fe, there's a little town about 15 miles south called Madrid. Madrid was a deserted mining town for years, then a movie called Hog Wild with John Travolta was filmed there. The village was a sleepy quiet little place. Then a handful of old hippies, now in there 60's/70's came in with all their handcrafts and arts and made this little place a gemstone! Being an artist myself, it was right up my alley! Loved this place! But beware!! Running water is hard to come by. So many dwellings do not have running water. Quirky artists, warm and friendly folks sell everything to hand made chocolates to fountains made from pottery. So many appealing fun things to see. Even a few restaurants and bars to quench the thirst and satisfy your bellies!
Sante Fe, Taos, Madrid.....I will be back!! <3
