July 28th, 2014 we land in Sheridan, Wyoming. Just off rte 90 there's a little camp called Peter D's. Way too pricey at $35 per night! Small, tight sites. No pool, no store and Hwy noise made this no bargain! But I'm into little towns and it was just around the corner from Main street! A cute little town with eateries and an OLD 2 level J.C.Penny in the strip! Funny! All the towns have their own "thing" and I always look for the art sculptures on the Main streets! I've seen this becoming the thing to do all over the country and I love it! Anyway, cute town!
Next up was the town of Sundance, Wyoming where we'd stay to Aug.2nd. Mountain View Rv Pk. This is where our close friends that go to Sturgis each year for bike week came to meet us for lunch! After being around three quarters of the country, It was surely heartwarming and comfortable spending time with friends we new well! Pam and Ron, we were soooo happy to see you....more than you realized!
This camp was near The Devils Tower, Black Hills National Pk and Spearfish,S.D. A nice camp but no pool. This town was not as quaint as many we've visited but was a good location for exploring.
Next stop for just overnight was in Murdo, Wyoming, S.D. Basically a parking lot site in behind an old motel. Nothing to write home about, American RV PK was only good to us for hook ups and clean outs. Aug.3rd we pulled out and headed east.
Staying overnight in the WalMart parking lot in Mitchell,S.D. along with 15 other trailers and motorhomes! We'd wanted to stay in Spearfish (loved that city) but bike week in this part of S.D. draws over 400,000 bikers and campground vacancies were few and far between! But still, we pulled out the chairs and made an evening of it! It was fun in a weird way!
On Aug. 4th An oil leak brought us to the Cummins repair shop in Sioux Falls,S.D. for 2 nights until it was finally fixed! (did I mention the drivers side window stopped working? never to be used again until we hit Indiana Fleetwood factory mid Aug)
Aug,6th we pull into a campground in Sioux Falls called The Red Barn Campground. Small family owned with pool.....cute. A bit more rustic but some areas were slightly tight for bigger rigs. $30 was worth being close to town. DOWNTOWN SIOUX FALLS!!! Omgosh! I learned why they call it Sioux "Falls"! Beautiful rock formations imbedded in the ground that water.....well you'll see the photos! I was in awe! It was a natural beauty! Loved the downtown shops, eateries, sculptures, etc! Totally impressed! I'm a east coast girl....I'd have never imagined the things my eyes would see so far!
